I’m home!

Packed. Almost ready to walk out the door. Pray for me if you think about me. I plan to be gone for 2 weeks
visiting my sis and her family in Liberia!
Adios!
It did indeed rain today, which brings me to the question, what rained? We say “it” rained but what is “it”? Ah, too much thinking. It (whatever it is) rained cats, dogs, and shopping bags. I got blown all over Savannah but not one word of complaint did you hear from me. My hair-do by the end of the day was a hair-don’t, giving evidence that wind + rain = curly mess.
I imagine the plants in this area are going through a weather shock. They probably recoiled in uncertainty when the first drops of rain dared to wet them after so many months of dryness. One dog I saw looked like he had lost his best friend, so wet and forlorn was he.
Well, it’s time to hit the hay but gotta say
Thank you, Lord, for the rain!!!!!
It hit me like a ton of proverbial bricks. I woke up at 3 on Tuesday morning feeling like there a war going on in my stomach. First thought was food poisoning but I ruled that out. To put it delicately, the next 5 hours were like The Colon Cleanse Part 2.
For the first time in many years I called in sick. Since I am getting ready to leave on a Big Trip I needed to use my time wisely, even if I was sick, so I managed to sew a skirt between naps.Who would’ve thought that I could sleep for hours throughout the day and still sleep the next night?
I had a fitful night of sleep, between a nearly full moon and slight fever off and on throughout the night. I awoke on Wednesday feeling like a limp rag but with nothing worse than a headache that Advil could handle. PTL it was only a short version of the flu and I’m back on par again.
In other news, would you look at this beautiful sight:
It may just actually rain here this weekend. Things are quite parched in this neck of the woods. Mama was going through her diary recently and discovered the last decent rain we had was the beginning of March. When it rains again I will be happy to do a rain dance. In fact, I plan on going to Savannah Saturday and I really don’t mind getting drenched. Happy thought, indeed!
Countdown to departure: 5 more dark naps (as Jasmine calls them)
This past weekend was a busy one around Joe O’s house! Their whole family minus Sandra and her family was here, along with my aunt Naomi and her family from VA Beach. My brother Henry came for the weekend too and we joined the others in the various activities they had going on.
Saturday a.m. most of the men and the older boys took the big boat down to the islands. A number of us ladies took the younger children over to Wes and Ginny’s pool. After that we joined the men who by then were at Lake Grace with the boat and jet ski.
A surprise 40th b.d. party at suppertime was planned for Stan and he was completely surprised! Gina managed to do all the prep without him getting suspicious. Of course, it helps that his b.d. isn’t until August!
Grilling the chicken for Sat. night supper
Proof that there must be monkeys in the Overholt lineage. (This is one of those pictures that you look at years later and you remember how cool you felt doing something like this. Can you relate? )
He seems awful chipper about the pending number change.
3 of the 4 Yoder daughters-in-law discussing the price of eggs in China (just a wild guess, anyway!)
There’s more than one way to stay awake when it’s long passed your bedtime. Doing this manuever is one of the ways.
The launcher and his assistants
The lineup for the skeet shoot
Yes, they were so kind as to let us ladies have a turn. I must admit we wasted a lot of shells but it was fun anyway!
Mart brought his rig over for rides
You can get the details straight from the horse’s mouth.

Lots of fun stuff going on all weekend. Makes me wonder how joy and pain can be going on at the same time. My heart goes out to my friends who are going through a painful time right now. You are in my thoughts and prayers! I pray for God to bring healing into your situation!! I love you!
