An Announcement or Two

So … occasionally someone asks if I sell my photos. I will gladly do so. I would love to eventually get a website up and going but I’m afraid that will not be a priority this year. So, here are the prices that I charge for the wall prints and canvases. If you have any questions, please send me a message.

Also, I’ve started a different blog for my portrait photography. If you’d like a link to that, drop me a message.

And …. we are very excited to have some long-distance family returning stateside after four years of service in Liberia. If you’d like to drop by and see my niece Vicki and  Kelly’s sites, these are probably the final ones from there. If you visit, please be kind and leave them a comment.

Ahhh! Finally some fall weather. It feels great in the evenings, although the days are still kind of warm. Sunday a week ago Wendy and I took a picnic lunch down to Jekyll. The weather was perfecto and a worth-repeating event.

But alas I had forgotten to take my camera along so there are no new beach shots. I did do some local stuff since the golden rods and black-eyed susans are begging for some attention. So I succumbed.

I entered the lot next to us. Entered would be the proper term since it it shoulder high in weeds and brush. Fine place for a snake to hide. There are cute little lavendar flowers that are on long, stemmy plants. They close up at night and reopen in the daylight.

There were little creepy crawlies there as well but I think they are pretty harmless.

When I left the field I discovered I had some “custom embroidery” on my skirt from the friendly and somewhat clingy weeds.

There are some wild grape vines nearby with deliciously sweet grapes on them. Guess the wild vines are good for something!

The cotton was screaming for attention too. Here’s a little science class for you. The cottom blooms open as white on the first day. The next day the are open as a pink flower. On the third day the are a reddish color. By the 5th to 7th days, the are drying up and falling off, making way for the boll to develop. Below you have a new flower, one that is dying, and a boll that is developing.

Winners – Wednesday October 1, 2008

That little “s” at the end of that word indicates that there is more than 1 winner. That would be correct since approximately 53% of you responded!!

Wow! I must say my “words of affirmation” tank is full and running over. Thank you for all your kind and generous words and for those of you who resorted to flattery…. tsk! tsk! tsk! (but they did make me giggle!)

I know this seemed like a “cheap” way of getting comments and maybe it was. But I really did want to know who all does actually read my posts. And when I say reading them, I don’t necessarily mean scouring them because if you’re like me, sometimes it’s a scan. Xanga shouldn’t be on the front burner of our lives.

In school I didn’t particularly enjoy literature where I had to try to figure out what people were saying in via poem or prose. Why didn’t they just come out and say it? Yeah, I’m a literalist. I did love to do creative writing where my imagination could take over.

Eventually something happened which crushed the creative writing out of me for quite some time. I even had a job where writing would’ve been an option but honestly, I could sit at the computer and my mind would be blank. It was quite a few years before I could believe again that anyone would find my writing interesting. And that’s where the kind comments from people over the past couple of years has been healing. That and other life lessons!

I’m well aware that my photography probably catches more eyes than my writing and that’s fine. Photography is actually a bigger passion of mine anyway.  So, anyway, thanks for your participation and enouragement!!!

To choose the winners I took the total number of entries and entered into a random number generator at mathgoodies.com. I took the first 2 numbers that it generated and voila, I have the winners.

So without further ado ……

Bertha and Clarita , your number was picked!

Last week was a birthday part week. Was at 3 including my own, but that’s a story for another time. The little man up the road turned a whopping 1 and we were invited to help celebrate.

We, not being the type to turn down invites, didn’t turn it down. Fun evening with Reggies and Joels!!

Our oldest niece, Krista, made a last minute decision to come down for Friday night and Saturday. She is in the Air Force, stationed at Ft. Gordon near Augusta.

A birthday party for Crysta was held at Stan’s Saturday night. Delicious supper. Fun evening although there was a brief altercation involving the Buckeyes vs. Dawgs.

A photo shoot of a different kind. It’s square because …. it’s for a cd cover. However, this is not the cover (obviously), just the photo that may appear on the cover. (The presence of the harmonica is significant.)

And yes, I was at the lake again.

The next two are supposed to look like paintings but I’m afraid this small they just look out of focus.

Stay tuned for the next addition. It will be something about a kidnapping, a luncheon and friends.

Good day to all!

To Scream or Not to Scream – Friday August 15, 2008

is just about not the question anymore.

I’m here at work, btw, working on my boss’ computer and in between times I’m trying to do a little work here. These custom modules are about to drive me nuts. Actually, the other computer I’m working on is driving me nuts too. It won’t load Quickbooks and I can’t figure out why. I’m trying to do a clean install on the Windows since I’ve done everything else I can think of but that’s giving me hassle too.

Anyway, thought I’d post a few more pictures for something different.

This family photo is about 2 years old but I decided to try a new technique that I learned recently and is not orginal with me, fyi. We only get a good family picture about once every …. well, let’s say that this was taken in 2006, the previous one in 2002 (?) and it was many years before that when we had a professional one taken, maybe back in 1990. Pathetic, I know.

This will be a square canvas, around 22″ x 22″.

And here are a few more that I took of Ginny and her family recently:

Feedback Needed!!

If you could help me with some feedback I’d be very, very grateful. I’ve upgraded to premium and it gave me a default layout which is too narrow. I tried to make a new one and it shows up for me when I’m logged in but not when I’m logged out. So ….

Are you seeing

1. black background with lake scene in the header or
2. white background with a swirly pink thing in the header

Thank you so much for your help!!!
